watering
Hardy hibiscus plants (Hibiscus ‘Etna Pink’) need to be watered regularly to stay healthy. They should be watered about once per week when there has not been a lot of rainfall. The amount of water should just be enough to moisten the soil, but should not create standing water. Make sure to avoid overwatering; soil should be allowed to dry thoroughly in between watering sessions. Keep in mind that hibiscus plants can do fine with less water in the winter, but will need more frequent watering during hot summer months.
sunlight
Hardy hibiscus Prefers full sun, at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. If grown in circumstances of less direct sunlight, more watering will be needed to keep the soil moist. When grown in an area with too much shade, flowering may be reduced.
pruning
Pruning of Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus 'Etna Pink') should be done when the plant is dormant, which is usually in winter. Depending on the growth habit of your particular plant, you should prune the plant so that it is no more than 2/3 of its original height. You should also prune any dead or damaged stems, and any stems that are crossing over, to help promote a healthy and attractive shape. Pruning should be done with sterilized pruning shears and any chunks of the plant that are removed should be disposed of away from the garden.
