The Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus moscheutos 'Disco Belle White') should be watered deeply as needed, but no more than once every 4 to 7 days. Water the plant until the top 2-3 inches of soil is wet, and water at the base of the stem - avoid wetting the foliage - as frequent overhead watering can promote fungal growth. During extended dry periods, the plant may require more frequent watering. During the heat of the summer, the plant may require more water than during the cooler months.

Hardy hibiscus plants love full sun and typically require at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day in order to thrive. Direct sunlight during the morning and afternoon is ideal, with some afternoon shade from the hottest part of the day. These plants can tolerate some light shade throughout the day, but for the best flowering performance, they should receive more sun than shade.

Hardy hibiscus plants should be pruned in early spring before new growth appears. Pruning should involve removal of dead flower stalks and stems and thinning of the plant to help maintain its shape, if desired. Pruning should be done lightly, leaving at least 1-third of the plant intact. Doing so will help encourage vigorous blooming. It is important to not prune too much, as this can damage the plant or inhibit blooming.
