watering

Oriental lilies require regular watering to keep their soil moist, but not too wet. In general, water the lilies once or twice a week, providing enough water to moisten the soil down to about 6 inches (15 cm). When watering, aim the stream of water at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the leaves and flowers. In hot weather or during prolonged dry spells, water more often, making sure the soil never dries out completely. Water earlier in the day to allow the foliage to dry before night falls to avoid fungal diseases.

sunlight

Oriental lilies (Lilium 'Muscadet') require full sunlight for at least 6 to 8 hours a day for optimal growth and flowering. They should be planted in an area that will receive direct sunshine for the majority of the day. If this isn’t possible, then the lily could be grown in a spot where there is some morning sun and some light shade in the afternoon. This can help to reduce the risk of the plant developing leaf scorch, which can occur when the leaves are exposed to too much direct sunlight.

pruning

Oriental lily (Lilium 'Muscadet') should be pruned in late summer, after flowers have faded and the stem is beginning to turn brown. Cut off all the spent flower stems at least 6 inches from the base of the stalk, then cut the remaining stem back to about 6 inches above soil level. Remove any dead leaves or flowers from the stem. The best time to prune the Oriental lily is when the leaves are actively growing; this will usually be around late spring. Pruning is best done when the leaves are actively growing, and no more than 1/3 of the foliage should be removed in 1 pruning session. This will help to ensure healthy growth and better flowering in the following season.
