Parthenocissus quinquefolia 'Troki' RED WALL

Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia 'Troki' RED WALL) is an attractive deciduous climber with deep green five-fingered foliage. In autumn, its leaves turn bright red, adding an impressive presence to the garden. This perennial grows quickly and is very hardy, especially in shady locations. Its branching tendrils lend a stunning visual effect to walls, trellises or tree trunks, with stems reaching up to 15 m in length. Virginia creeper's small, bluish-black fruits will attract birds to the garden. The variety RED WALL has an unusually darker red foliage colour compared to other Virginia creeper varieties.

watering

Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia 'Troki' RED WALL) should be watered frequently during the growing season. Water deeply 2-3 times per week, making sure the soil is evenly moistened. Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. In the winter, water only every other week. During periods of drought, extra water may be necessary.

sunlight

Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia 'Troki' RED WALL) needs at least 6 hours of direct light a day to thrive. For optimal growth, this plant species should receive full sun, especially in the morning to provide warmth and light for its photosynthetic process. Direct sunlight in the afternoon is generally not recommended as Virginia creeper 'Troki' RED WALL is prone to heat stress. During summer months, it is best to provide some shade to avoid scorching the delicate leaves. During winter, however, the shrub may benefit from some direct sunlight to provide extra warmth.

pruning

Pruning Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia 'Troki' RED WALL) should generally be done right after flowering in late spring/ early summer. Pruning can be used to shape the vine as well as remove any dead wood or overcrowded stems. Any vigorous shoots should also be cut back, either lightly at the end of growth season or hard back to a third of their length in late winter. Heavy pruning should be avoided as it can shock the vine and cause poor flowering. Depending on the desired shape of the vine, it can be selectively pruned and/or trained to climb trellises, posts, walls, and more.
