Pelargonium (scented-leaved group)

Scented-leaved geranium (Pelargonium (scented-leaved group)) is a stunning and unique flowering plant grown as a perennial in many parts of the world. It produces a profusion of white, pink, purple, or red flowers that are sweetly scented. Its evergreen foliage has a pleasant aroma when touched, and features heart-shaped leaves with serrated edges. The easily propagated plants grow best in a sunny or partially shaded location with a well-drained soil. With regular water and occasional fertilizing, the scented-leaved geranium will rewarded you with abundant blooms seasonally.

watering

Scented-leaved geraniums should be watered when the soil is dry to the touch. Depending on climate, that can be anywhere from once to 3 times per week. The plant prefers a moist but not soggy soil. To make sure you are providing enough water but not drowning the plant, water deeply until you see excess water draining out the drain holes of the pot, then stop watering.

sunlight

Scented-leaved geraniums (Pelargonium (scented-leaved group)) require bright sunlight to achieve good foliage color and healthy growth. Ideally they should receive 4 to 6 hours of direct sun each day. If the plant is situated in a particularly scorching area, such as near a window in a sunny area of the home, then indirect sunlight or a light shade may be preferable. For the best overall health, it is recommended that the plant is moved every couple of weeks to better expose the plant to light.

pruning

The best time to prune a scented-leaved geranium is during the early spring, right after the plant experiences its yearly growth spurt. Prune off any dead leaves and cut stems back by up to a third. This type of pruning will help the scented-leaved geranium stay healthier and bushier throughout the season. In the middle of summer, prune off any flowers that have died or faded away, and also lightly prune the edges of the plant for uniform growth. Additionally, if the plant gets too long or top heavy, you can do a light trimming to maintain the desired size and shape.
