watering
European Sea Rocket requires weekly watering during its active growing season in the spring and summer. Water the plant until the soil is moist and saturated but not soggy. Allow the soil to dry shallowly between watering. During the winter, water the plant only occasionally when the soil is dry. Do not overwater during the winter months, as this can cause the plant to go into dormancy and not sprout when the temperatures rise.
sunlight
European sea rocket is a fast-growing annual plant species that grows along the coasts of Europe, western Asia, and northern Africa. It prefers full sunlight to grow and thrive, and its optimal growth condition occurs during late spring and early summer when direct sunlight is abundant. During these months, it receives more than 8 hours of direct sunlight each day. During the summer, direct sunlight and temperatures are highest, causing rapid growth. During the cooler months of the year, sea rocket will tolerate full sunlight but will not experience optimal growth. During the winter, the brief periods of full sunlight may not be sufficient for growth or survival.
pruning
European Sea Rocket should be pruned regularly throughout the growing season. Pruning should begin when the plant is actively growing in late spring, usually in May or June. Remove the tallest, central stem first, then prune side shoots and leaves back to the side and upper branches. Leave at least 2 inches of stem when pruning. As the season progresses continue to prune, removing dead, damaged, or diseased stems in late summer and fall. Prune heavily just before winter as this encourages the growth of compact and healthy plants the following year.
