watering
Tworank Sedge should be watered on a regular basis, approximately once a week. The amount of water required should be sufficient to moisten the soil to a depth of 5-7 inches. For best growth and health, soil should feel slightly moist, but not overly wet. If the soil feels soggy or you find standing water, reduce the amount of water applied.
sunlight
Tworank Sedge thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist to wet soil. It grows best in soils that have been amended with organic matter such as topsoil, compost, or peat moss. For optimum growth, this plant should receive the equivalent of 6-7 hours of direct sunlight each day. Partial shade is also beneficial, as the afternoon sun may be too strong for the delicate leaves. The amount of light should be monitored throughout the growing season, as shade from trees and buildings can block out the sun. During the winter months, Tworank Sedge does not require as much direct sunlight, as the hours of daylight are much shorter than in the summer.
pruning
Tworank Sedge should be pruned in the late fall or early winter. Prune out any dead, diseased or damaged leaves to help the plant stay healthy and look its best. Make sure to leave some foliage and stems as these provide much needed winter protection. If the plant is growing too vigorously or going out of bounds, prune it back slightly to make sure it doesnât spread too far. Pruning away only a few inches, or less, should help to keep the Tworank Sedgeâs growth under control.
