watering

Slender Sedge should be watered once every 7-10 days, but the amount of water required will vary depending on the season and the age of the plant. During periods of extended heat and dryness, the plant will require more water. Watering deeply once a week will be the best practice throughout the entire growing season, but during the spring and summer months, the plant may require more frequent watering. Additionally, Slender Sedge should be given enough water to thoroughly moisten the entire root system of the plant. Avoid overwatering, as this can cause root rot.

sunlight

Slender Sedge prefers full to partial sun in moist to wet soils. Plant in light shade during hot summer months to prevent drying and scorching of the foliage. In general, the Slender Sedge needs approximately 6 hours of direct sunlight a day but this can vary depending on geographical location. If the plant is located further north of the equator then it could withstand up to 8 hours of direct sunlight. If located further south of the equator then it should only receive about 4-6 hours of direct sunlight.

pruning

Slender Sedge is an ornamental grass that requires little to no pruning. The best time to prune Slender Sedge is in late winter or early spring when the grass is actively growing. This will allow for the quickest healing of pruning wounds. Only remove any tattered, dead, or diseased grass blades and trim lightly if the plant is looking too unkempt. Avoid removing more than 1 third of the foliage in any 1 pruning session. You can also prune Slender Sedge slightly in mid to late summer to control its shape or size if needed.
