Mingan Islands Sedge requires approximately 1 inch of water per week when grown indoors. During the spring and summer months, it is best to water the plant a bit more regularly, while allowing the soil to dry out slightly between watering. To keep the tree healthy, in the winter months, water it less frequently, but ensure that the roots are not left completely dry. It is important to avoid over-watering, as this can lead to root rot. Additionally, be sure to check the soil for moisture by sticking your finger into the soil before watering, as this plant does not do well with overly wet soil.

Mingan Islands Sedge (Carex x minganinsularum) prefers partial sun and partial shade for optimal growth and flowering. This plant species should be in bright, indirect sunlight for at least 4 hours a day for optimal flowering. The most recommended hours of sunlight should be in the morning or evening, as direct sunlight during the mid-day can cause too much heat.
