watering

Statice plants (Limonium sinuatum) prefer a well-draining, sandy soil and need to be kept in an area with plenty of light. Water statice once a week, allowing the top inch or 2 of soil to dry out in between waterings. If the soil becomes too dry, the leaves will start to wilt, indicating that it needs to be watered. It is important not to overwater, as too much water can cause root rot. Statice should also be fertilizer every few weeks with a water-soluble, balanced fertilizer.

sunlight

Statice (Limonium sinuatum) is a sun-loving plant species that does best when exposed to full sunlight for at least 6-7 hours a day. While direct, intense midday sun can be tolerated for short durations, in general, it is recommended to provide statice with morning sun and several hours of bright, indirect light in the afternoon for best results. When grown indoors, it should be placed in a sunny south, east or west-facing window that receives 6-7 hours of sunlight daily.

pruning

Statice, also known as Sea Lavender, should be trimmed back in early spring after new growth has begun. This can be done either before or at the beginning of the blooming period. Pruning should be done before the development of the flower heads and should be done lightly to prevent the plant from becoming leggy. Prune the branches to about an inch above the ground taking care not to cut too much off at 1 time. This will encourage new and vigorous growth from the base of the plant. Dead or weakly stems can be removed all the way to the base of the plant for better health and appearance.
