Snow crocuses (Crocus tommasinianus 'Ruby Giant') should be pruned after flowering, as cutting the flower buds back before they've opened may reduce flowering for the next season. The best time to prune them is when the leaves have started to yellow, about 2 weeks after flowering. Pruning should involve removing the withered or faded flower heads just above the leaves. Don't worry if you accidentally remove the leaves in the pruning process; new ones will grow in due time. With that said, you should only prune back the flower stalks and not too much of the foliage as it helps the plant store energy for the next season.
