watering
Hebe 'Caledonia' should be watered regularly, but not too much. Water the soil to a depth of 4 inches when it begins to dry out. Do not allow the soil to become completely dry. During the summer months, it may require daily watering, especially if it is planted in a pot. During spring and fall, water it every 4-5 days. In winter, water it every week to 10 days, but reduce the amount of water.
sunlight
Hebe 'Caledonia' is a deciduous shrub that requires an average of 6-8 hours of sunlight per day. It grows best in areas with high light intensity, as long periods of full sun will produce the best blooms. Hebe 'Caledonia' is quite tolerant of cold temperatures, however, some afternoon shade is recommended to protect it from the heat of the day. The shrub will thrive with morning sun and some afternoon shade. If planted in an area that gets shade in the afternoon and full sun in the morning, the shrub should receive enough light for proper development.
pruning
Hebe 'Caledonia' should be pruned back in late winter or early spring when it is still dormant. Prune back to a height of approximately 20 to 25cm to maintain its shape. Removing any dead, diseased or damaged wood is also necessary. Pruning promotes better growth and health for the plant. Hebe 'Caledonia' and other hebe species should not be pruned too hard, as this can cause the plant to become stressed.
