watering

This plant species needs to be watered once per week, depending on the season. During the spring, summer, and fall, the redflower false yucca should be watered deeply, allowing the water to completely saturate the soil. During the winter, when the plant is dormant and not actively growing, it should be watered less frequently, about every 2 to 3 weeks. For each watering, approximately 1 inch of water should be used. If possible, it is best to water the plant in the morning so that the leaves have all day to dry off.

sunlight

The Redflower False Yucca thrives best in sunny locations that receive 7 to 9 hours of direct sunlight per day throughout the year. However, depending on where the plants are grown, the amount of sunlight throughout the year may differ slightly. In regions with more cloudy conditions, the plants can tolerate slightly less light, so for those areas, 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day will suffice. In areas with extended periods of hot, dry weather, the plant will need more shelter from the intense sunlight, so partial shade should be provided for protection.

pruning

Redflower false yucca should be pruned in late winter or early spring, before new growth emerges. Pruning should be done sparingly, removing only dead or dying leaves and stems. For optimum health, it should be lightly pruned yearly, or pruned when the plant is getting too large or is becoming sparse or unsightly. Cut all stems back to a height of around 6 inches, and cut any dead material at the ground level. Pruning too much can damage the plant, so it’s best to take a conservative approach.
