Heuchera 'Snow Angel'

Heuchera 'Snow Angel' is a beloved hardy perennial plant species with beautiful white-edged foliage. It provides a ground cover with lush, rounded leaves, reaching up to 8” tall. In early summer, this plant produces dainty white bell-shaped flowers, held aloft by wiry stems. It grows best in partial shade and appreciates regular water. To ensure a lush appearance it is best to divide clumps every 3 or 4 years. Heuchera 'Snow Angel' can be used as a border edging for gardens, planted in containers, or even in a rock garden. An easy to care for plant, coral bells adds year-round beauty to the garden.

watering

Coral bells need moist, well-draining soil to thrive, and should be watered when the top inch of soil is dry. In general, coral bells should be watered every 3 to 7 days, providing about 1-2 inches of water each time. However, during particularly hot and dry periods, they may need to be watered more frequently. If the soil is extremely dry, soaking the area around the plant before watering again can help. In the winter months, reduce watering to every 2 to 3 weeks, and make sure the soil is dry before watering again.

sunlight

Coral bells (Heuchera 'Snow Angel') prefer partial to full sun in order to promote the best growth and colouration. For this species, the ideal amount of direct sun is up to 4 hours per day, and should be filtered by nearby trees, buildings, fences, etc. Direct afternoon sun should be avoided as it may burn the foliage and cause stress. In general, coral bells perform best in areas that receive morning sun and afternoon shade.

pruning

For coral bells, the best time of year for pruning is late winter or very early spring, before new growth begins. Prune the plant back to around 6-8 inches from the ground, removing dead or damaged foliage and any branches or wiry stems which may be present. If the coral bells are looking overgrown or unkempt, up to 1-third of the total plant can be trimmed away. Pruning is not essential for this plant species but a light annual pruning can help to keep plants looking tidy and promote new growth.
