Water Rhododendron 'Mist Maiden' plants thoroughly, once a week. Aim to keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy or bone dry. During very hot and dry weather, it may be necessary to increase the frequency of watering to twice a week. An easy way to check if the plant needs watering is to stick your finger about an inch into the soil; if the soil feels dry, it needs water. For container plants, water until some excess flows from the drainage holes on the bottom of the pot.

Rhododendron 'Mist Maiden' is an evergreen shrub that does best in partial sun with some filtered sunlight. It should have around 4 hours of daily sunlight during the spring and summer and can tolerate some morning sun during cooler months. This species prefers cooler climates so direct afternoon sunlight can be problematic during the summer months when temperatures are at their highest. In general, they should receive partial sun for the majority of the year, but full shade during the hottest part of the day.

For best results, Rhododendron 'Mist Maiden' should be pruned during its dormant period in late winter or early spring, just before bud break. Start by removing any dead wood or crossed branches, as well as any overly long or drooping stems. Also remove any branches that divide or cross into the center of the shrub, as this can cause it to become overgrown. Prune branches that are weak or smaller than the main stems and stems that detract from the desired shape. Finally, thin out some branches to increase air circulation and brighten up the foliage. Generally, did not remove more than 1 third to 1 half of the live branches of the shrub at any given time.
